I know that Google Optimize will be sunset soon. But I still think it’s the best platform until then. I expect Google to add A/B testing to Google Analytics 4 before then. If they don’t, I’ll add a guide to whatever new platform I think is best.
1. Set up Google Analytics.
I recommend setting up Google Analytics 3 using this tutorial: The best way to set up Google Analytics for Shopify without an expensive third-party app
But you can also use the Native Shopify integration. The differences doesn’t affect your ability to A/B test.
I’ll add a guide to Google Analytics 4 whenever I think it’s the best option.
2. Create a Google Optimize account.
- Sign in to optimize.google.com.
- Click Create account.
- Enter an account name.
- Agree to the Optimize Terms of Service.
- Enter a container name, e.g. your website.
- Click Create.
3. Link Google Analytics to Google Optimize
- Navigate to your Optimize Accounts page.
- Select a container.
- Click LINK PROPERTY in the Container information panel.
- Select a Google Analytics property from the drop-down list that corresponds to the web domain where you’ll be running experiments. For example, if you created an Optimize container for example.com, select your example.com Analytics property. Properties that you don’t have Edit (or higher) permission to and properties that are linked to a different Google Marketing Platform Organization will appear grayed out.
- Select one or more Analytics views, including at least one with few or no filters. Every Optimize experiment sends data to one Analytics view, and it will use that view's goals/metrics for its experiment objectives. The view(s) selected here will be available when you set up your experiments in Optimize.
- Click LINK.
4. Install this Chrome/Brave extension.
